The author of the novel Ingo is Helen Dunmore.Helen Dunmore was born in Yorkshire, in the December of 1952. She had three other siblings. She also had a large extended family which influenced her life greatly. From childhood, poetry had always been important to her. She then went to study English at the University of York and taught English in Finland after university.
At the same time Helen Dunmore started writing down poetry and published these in magazines. After writing two novels, with neither of them being published, she did not write for another ten years. Yet, she continued to write poetry.
During these ten years, she travelled a lot, worked for newspapers, and reviewed poetry as well as writing them.
In the 1980's - 1890's Helen Dunmore taught poetry and creative writing to places such as schools, hospitals, and prisons. She also taught at several universities.
Starting in the late 1890's, she started publishing short stories and this helped her to start writing novels again as well.
